j Navy League Shop Day . The Wanganui Navy League will hold a shop day on Friday next, December 5. in the old Post Office building. Proceeds are for providing comforts for the Navy and Mercantile Marine. Supper Party. Mrs. Gladys Loveglove entertained her senior women students al a party on Saturday night at her home in Grey Street in appreciation for their willingness in giving their services reciting at the camp concerts during the year, assisting at other functions and foi' the work done. Competitions and items were enjoyed. Those present included Mrs. Alan Brown, Mrs. Froud lnee Eileen Sanderson). Mi's. Frank Smith. Misses Olive Spencer, Gladys Tonkins. Olite Horsley, Maisie Westwood. Joan Gardner and Helen Clancy. Several students were unable to be present. Euchre Party. The Social Committee of the Ararpoho branch of the Labour Party held their usual Thursday night euchre party, this night being the play-off for the aggregate which resulted: Mesdames Orr. Bridges and Miss Hallom and Messrs. Kennedy, James and Orr. There was a record attendance the competitions being won by Mrs. Burns and E. Jeffrey and Privates McMahon and Churcher. Supper was served by the ladies, and Messis. Call'd and Firmin acted as M.C.'s. Turaiigaarere Women's Institute. Mrs. Bartell presided over a good attendance at the November meeting. Mrs. Woods (delegate) was congratulated on her report of the half-yearly meeting. She also gave a description of a cover in crazy pattern embroidered with names of each member of the Rangataua W.I. Mrs. Murdock read a report of the Dominion Federation meeting held in Wellington and was accorded a vote of thanks. Mrs. Shaw gave the motto. The competition results were: Premier flower, Mrs. Millan; bowl of flowers, Miss Bartell 1. Mrs. Bartell 2: Xmas novelty, Mrs. Shaw 1. Miss Bartell 2.
