SATURDAY’S RESULTS The fifth series oi games in the women’s baseball competition was played on Saturday under good playing conditions. Excellent baseball was played, the best yet in the series Star played well and won their game. Kia Toa also had a victory and Checkers played an outstanding game to beat Amazons. The following are the detailed results:— Kia Toa 22 v. Trojans IS.- This was a very even and keenly-contested game. Both teams suffered penalties from wild throwing, hut the genera! play on both sides showed a definite improvement on their previous games. Star 13, v. McGruer’s 12.—Again an even and good game was witnessed. Both trams played well and Star deserved their win. McGruer’s were unlucky that the third player went out in the last innings when all buses were loaded. Hincmoa 37. v. Southern Cross I. Hinemoa were the superior team in all phases of play, but Southern Cross played well and the experience gained will be of great benefit in future games.
