LONG SERVICE

AMATEUR ATHLETICS MR. A. C. KITTO HONOURED. Long years of service in the interests of amateur athletics were recognised at the annual meeting the Wellington A.A. Club, when a presentation was made to Mr. A. C. Kitto. Mr. H. J. Pollock, the club’s president, in making the presentation, said that Mr. Kitto had occupied practically every executive position in the club since he was elected to the committee 36 years ago. At the time of his retirement from the presidency he had served the club for 20 years in that capacity. Tributes were paid to Mr. Kitto's outstanding record, and he was complimemnted on his election as president of the N.Z.A.A.A. and to life membership of .that body. All that he had done for the club was, it was stated, but part of the wonderful contribution Mr. Kitto had made towards the progress of the sport in general. The sport had had varying periods of success, and there had been many notable achievements in the long period with which Mr. Kitto had been actively associated with amateur athletics. Mr. Kitto expressed his thanks for the tributes which had been paid, but pointed out that he had been only too ready to give such service as he could to the sport. He was keenly appreciative of (he work of those with whom he had been associated.
