EXCITING WRESTLING
BOUT AT AUCKLAND (Press Assn.) Auckland. Aug. 11. One of the most exciting wrestling matches seen in Auckland took place when Fred Atkins, of Australia, drew with Pat Meehan, of America. Each man obtained a fall. Meehan was awarded a penalty fall in the fourth round, when Atkins made use of his knee. Atkins drew- even in the seventh round when after a succession of elbow' jolts, he lifted his opponent for a slam and body press. The crowd, which almost tilled the Town Hall, was wildly excited as the men strove throughout the final round to gain a deciding fall.
SCIENTIFIC DISPLAY WELLINGTON CONTEST (Press Assn.) Wellington, Aug. 11. In a display of scientific w'restling at the Tow n Hall to-night Joe Corbett (America) beat Ken Kenneth (New' Zealand> on points after each had secured a fall. Kenneth took the first fall with a drop-kick and body press in the third round, and Corbett evened in the sixth round by taking a fall after a series of flying tackles. Kenneth made a favourable first appearance in the Wellington ring but the American had just a trifle too much experience for the New Zealander.
