R.A.F. OFFENSIVE SWEEPS
18 ENEMY FIGHTERS SHOT DOWN BRITISH LOSE 10 (Recd. 6.30 p.m.) Rugby, Aug. 9. An Air Ministry communique says: "R.A.F. fighters made several offensive sweeps over the channel and North France in the late afternoon. Seven enemy lighters were destroyed, making a total of IS destroyed in the day’s operations. Our losses during the day were 10 fighters missing.—B.O.W.
