GORSE PARASITE
DISCOVERY IN CANTERBURY GOOD WORK DONE IN THE WAIMAKARIRI RIVEK BED The discovery of a parasite that had killed all the gorse in the Wai makariri River bed, near West Melton, on the Wairnakariri River Trust’s property, was mentioned by Mi. H. Holland at a meeting of the Canterbury Progress League. "This is tne best information the farming community has had for years," said Mr. L. M. Coop. ’’lf tin progress League could produce this parasite and kilt all the gorse in New Zealand it would be the best local body m New Zealand." Mr. W. J. Walter said the parasite v?ould be worth millions of pounds to New Zealand if it was as successful ar. Mr. Holland claimed.
