Erridge, commanding officer of the New Zealand Army Ordnance Corps, who has returned from India, arrived at Wellington from Auckland on Friday. Mr. W. R. McElwain, president of the Now Zealand Rugby Referees' Association, was manager of the Wanganui representative Rugby team which visited New Plymouth on Sal urday. Lieutenant F. P. Koorey, of Wanganui, has been granted the temporary rank of captain, while holding the appointment of second in command of a company, according to the N.Z. Gazette. Mr. T. B. Arlidge has retired from the position of accountant on the staff of Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., at Palmerston North, after 44 years' service. He joined the company at Dunedin in 1897. Dr. G. J. Adams (president) and Mr. B. R. Dobbs (chairman) will represent the Wanganui branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Society in Wellington on August 21. Formerly a prominent member of the Wanganui Harrier Club, Mr. G. Bills was presented with a paybook cover at the conclusion ot Saturday’s race for the Bramwell Memorial reams race, when members gathered at the residence of Mrs. W. L. Young, the club's patroness. The presentation was made by Mr. F. B Clark, the president of the club, who extended good wishes on behalf ot members. Mr. Bills, who is on leave from Trentham, suitably replied. The death occurred last week in his 67th. year, of Mr. Percy Arthur Acheson, of 88A Remuera Road, Auckland, a brother of Mr. F. O. V. Acheson. Judge ot the Native Land Court and the Native Appellate Court. Born in Riverton, Mr. Acheson was the third member ot a wellknown Southland family to die within a few months, the others being Professor A. R. Acheson, of Syracuse, United States, and Mrs. J. B. Cuppies, of Olautau. Mr. Acheson, who spent the greater part of his life in business in Southland and South Canterbury, went to Auckland upon his retirement in 1924. He was a keen athlete in his youth. He is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter. Mr. Harry Ross Dix, a brother of Mr. T. R. Dix, engineer to the Waitotara County Council, died suddenly at Auckland yesterday after a very short illness. Bom in Wellington, Mr. Harry Dix served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Luke and Sons, Wellington, and then accepted a position with the shipbuilding firm ot Denny Brothers, Dumbarton, Scotland. After several years at Dumbarton, Mr. Dix was appointed engineer to the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company, Burma, retaining that position for more than 30 years. On retiring some years ago be took up residence at Auckland. He is survived by his widow and a daughter. Mr. T. R. Dix is the only survivor of five brothers, and there are four sisters, Mesdames Frank Willis and L. C. Gibbons, and Misses M. L and F. Dix, all of Wellington.
