BOARD OF GOVERNORS MEEI OUTBREAK OF MUMPS The principal of the Wanganui Giris' College, Miss M. E. Baker, reported to the Board ot Governors at the monthly meeting on Thursday that the school roll was 309 secondary pupils. There were 71 boarders, 53 piano pupils, and 30 are taking group lessons. Mid-yea:* examinations were held this month. The visit of the Gov-ernor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, and Lady Newall, and Count K. A. Wodzicki, Polish Consul-General, and Countess Wodzicki were outstanding events for the pupils during the month. The necessity for heating the assembly hall before next winter was emphasised by Miss Baker, who said the lack of warmth had encouraged colds and chills. An epidemic of mumps had been experienced during the month. This, however, was only in a mild form. Mr. G. S. Gordon presided at the meeting, others present being Mrs. E. M. Scott, Mrs. J. C. Wickham, Miss Currie, Messrs. E. F. Heiniigwray and O. Hales, and Dr. G. ft. Pvobertson.
