EMERGENCY VRACTICE lor transport All olficcis and n.c.o.’s will parade al. 1.30 p.m. to-morrow at. Home Guard headquarters. It is important that all concerned attend the parade, so that the standard of training is spread evenly over all units, and all are on even terms in instruction when class firing is to be carried out. Supplies of ball ammunition are sull.cient to make a start, but there ; s not a round to spare on a man who has not received the necessary instruction. Now rifles are available every guardsman must see to it that he docs the musketry training. Units of the First Home Guard Battalion (Major J. W. Dow) will train in lite Castlecliff area on Sunday. Units will be conveyed from parade areas to their positions by the Transport Company, who are trying out their organisation as in emergency. March table issued for the transport gives the parade hour lor t’-ans-poit as 8.30 a.m. central parking area. From here sub-sections proceed to unit areas at Wanganui East, Gonville, and Central (Thain’s Corner). Units embus at 9 a.m. The convoy will be marshalled along Taupo Quay, near the Avenue, from where the convoy proceeds to the starting point (Carlton Avenue-Heads Road), then via Heads Road to the unit training areas. Under Mr. C. Linwood and Mr. N. Hood the transport have been training for several months past, and the first practice will be watched with interest. Maximum speed is sei at 26 m.p.h., average 20 in.p.h. The convoy is timed to arrive at the starting point (corner Carlton AvenueHeads Road) at 9.35 a.m. Instruction and training of the transport will include road discipline, keeping station in convoy, protection when halted, and all practical work. Signallers and engineers are to parade under their own arrangements.
