Private Maurice Earle Stewart, who was reported missing in a recent Second N.Z.KF. casualty list, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Stewart. Tawa Street, Gonville. He was last heard of in Crete after being evacuated from Greece. He player, for the Pirates Rugby Football Club and was also a representative hockey player, being a member of the Hinemoa Club. He was married before leaving New Zealand.

A keen follower of hunting and tormerly a well known auctioneer in Gisborne, Mr. John Sega Bucklanu died in Gisoorne at the age ot 8o years. The eldest son ol tne late Mr. Alfred Buckland, of Auckland. Mr. J. 3. Buckland was born in Otohuhu ana en.ered lhe firm of Alfred Buckland and Sons, Auckland, at the age of 13, Being one ot their first auctioneers, for several seasons he was master ol lhe Poverty Bay Hounds. He was also a member of the Pakuranga Hum Club and the Poverty Bay Hunt Club. He was twice married and leaves a widow and a family ol seven.
