HIGHER REVENUE
CUSTOMS AT WANGANUI WAR EXPENSES WELL UP Customs revenue collected at the Port of Wanganui last month amounted to £17,320 3s 2d, compared with £12,481 8s 7d for the same period last year, an increase of £4838 15s 2d. A feature of the higher returns is the marked increase in collections under the heading of war expenses. In July, 1940, the amount for war expenses was £l3B, but last month it was £4443, an increase of £4308. Sales tax dropped by £lB4B last month, the amount collected being £4146, compared with £5994 for the corresponding period last year. Customs duties last month amounted to £8309, as against £5891 in July, 1940, an increase of £2415. Details for last month, to the
