TAIHAPE NOTES

BOWLING NOTES. The following are extracts from the annual report of the Taihape Bowling Club, which was presented at the annual meeting last evening:—“The bal-ance-sheet discloses a most satisfactory position despite a membership reduced to 49. It is worthy of note that all outstanding and current dues have been paid. This is particularly gratifying and your committee thanks members for their whole-hearted support in maintaining the club's finances. The weather was very favourable during the season and although an excellent playing surface was maintained on the green it was disappointing that

members did not. fully avail themselves of the facilities offered. Your committee emphasises that the cost of preparing the green daily amounts to a considerable sum over the season and would urge members to take fuller advantage of the opportunities for play. “Finances. —The position of lhe club's finances at the end of lhe financial year discloses a satisfactory improvement. This is due principally to the prompt payment of dues and the efforts of certain members who so successfully conducted the various competitions. The committee’s appreciation and thanks are once again extended to those members. The amouiV of £25 has been paid off the overdraft and a final payment of £2O 13s lid made on the new mower, leaving a credit balance of £43 in the working account.

"Club Competitions.—The club competitions were well conducted anil finalised promptly. The winners and losers are to be congratulated on the standard of play witnessed.” IMPROVEMENTS TO CHURCH Bl ILUrNGS. The inside of the vicarage has been repainted and papered and re-decor-ated. Minor repairs have been effected to the Parish Hall and the schoolroom. A servery window has been constructed between the Parish Hall kitchen and the main hall.
