STORAGE OF WOOL

FARMERS URGE ATTENTION | TO PACK PRICES SHORTAGE OF PHOSPHATES | At a meeting in Marton yesterday, | the Wellington provincial executive of i the New Zealand Farmers’ Union de- i cided to ask the Dominion executive | of the Union to go into the question of ! wool pack prices and supplies. Mr. J. B. S. Dudding expressed concern at the probable resuit of having to stole wool in certain bales, which, he said, rotted quickly. If it were found necessary to store wool, the bales would probably be useless in about a year, Mr. J. D. Kilgour introduced the question of possible phosphate shortage through the shelling of Nauru Island by the Pacific raider, and said he thought the Farmers’ Union should take some action to secure a Government policy on the matter. He considered what phosphate was available

should be sent where it was most needed, the Waikato district using a great deal, Mr. A. Stewart was opposed to Mr. Kilgour’s suggestion, ana said it was asking toe much of the Government to have a set policy as the situation would alter month by month. Mr. Dudding supported Mr. Kilgour, although he acknowledged that there would be constantly changing conditions. No action was taken with the matter.
