FLYING FORTRESS CRASHES
Received Feb. 8. 1.15 a.m. MONTREAL, Feb. 7. A message from Lovelock, Nevada, reports that an army flying fortress, loaded with secret equipment for research to reduce the hazards of arctic flying, crashed on a mountainside, killing the crew of eight. Previously the plane was heavily guarded at an army depot at Sacramento, because of sabotage rumours. Officials are puzzled why it crashed on a 1000-feet peak when it was supposed to be engaged on a 19,000-feet flight non-stop to Denver. A sister plane crashed in California on December 18.
