FEILDING RAM FAIR
BETTER THAN EXPECTED FLOCK ROMNEYS AVERAGE 10 GUINEA.S [ Per Frees Association. I FEILDING, Feb. 7. The annual two-days ram fair concluded to-day. Nearly 2500 rams were offered at the sale which proved better than expected. Romney rams sold very well. The average for flock rams sold was 10 guineas. The highest price obtained was 70 guineas, the vendor being Mr. H. B. Johnston, the well-known breeder of Cheltenham. The same vendor obtained highest price for a stud Romney, 170 guineas, and' K. G. Dalziell (Mangaonoho) obtained 100 guineas for a stud ram. The stud rams sold averaged 47 guineas. To-day Southdowns were offered. Again there was a good sale, with brisk bidding for rams from wellestablished flocks. The highest price for a stud Southdown was 170 guineas, the vendor being Mr. H. J. Andrew, of Maheno, South Island, who also received 140 guineas for a stud ram. The average price for good quality flock Southdowns was 10 guineas, and for the next quality eight guineas.
The whole sale was very satisfactory.
