WAITOTARA HOME GUARD. All branches of the Waitotara Home Guard are very active and parades are well attended. Last week 19 new members were added to the already large number of enrolments. Three military men (including Ser-geant-Major Russel) from Wanganui attended the last parade and gave valuable instruction in rifle drill, etc. Mr. McDonald, of St. John’s Ambulance, was also present and gave instruction in first aid, and will hold classes every Tuesday evening in the supper-room. Arm bands have been issued to members. Owing to the extensive activities of the Home Guard it has been found impossible to get through all the work in the even ing, so it has been decided to hold parades on Sunday mornings.
