OHLNGAITI SPORTS The Ohingaiti sports will be held to-day. Ladies’ and men's junior teams from Taihape will compete. Taihape at present holds the banner. HOME GUARD Over 220 members of the Home Guard paraded on the Oval Domain on Thursday evening and the enthusiasm of The men is a happy augury for the future. Physical drill, under the direction of Mr. W. S.‘McNicoi; of Moawhango, was a feature of the training. Squad drill and marching were also included in the "programme,” under the guidance of Territorial instructors. The parade was the most- successful yet held.

The total membership now stands at 380. which is most satisfactory. Members are requested to put on their arm bands at home before leaving for the parade ground and to wear these emblems until they return to their homes. It is hoped that the membership will reach the 400 mark before Tong.

The first Home Guard n.c.o. class was conducted on Wednesday evening by Major H. Johnston, who will take charge each week till the n.c.o.'s are able to take over.

UTIKU CRICKET TEAM The following team will represent Utiku against Railway at Taihape during the week-end: Lowry, Whittle, Becker, C. H. Transom, O’Keeffe, Gabolinscy, Wilkie, G. Ross, O’Brien, Lomax, McNicoi, E. C. Transom. TAIHAPE SHOW The annual show of the Rangitikei A. and P. Association will be held on Thursday, February 27, and arrangements are well in hand for this outstanding event. A meeting of the general committee is to be held this afternoon to finalise preparations. No less than 46 valuable cups and trophies will be competed for, while the prize-money amounts to £750. Liberal prizes will be offered for the weight-judging competitions. The usual classes for horses, cattle and sheep, home industries, vegetables, etc., will be provided and the more entries received the better. Sideshow alley- will be bristling with attractions, including merry-go-round, chairoplane, etc. Sports will be held at night, followed by- a dance. The net profit from the show will be devoted to the Red Cross Society. LADY GALWAY PATRIOTIC GUILD With the commencement of a new year of work, the sewing committee of the L.G.P.G. will be very glad to receive contributions of clothing suitable for reconditioning. The clothing will go overseas for use by refugees and those who have suffered through air raids. CROQUET CHAMPIONSHIPS. Mesdames Little and H. R. Rush are competing in the croquet tourney at Palmerston North. In the B grade championship Mrs. Little beat Mrs. Buchanan 26-7. In the C grade handicap Mrs. Rush defeated Mrs. Cutten 26-24.
