RETIRIN G PRESIDENT HONOURED JOLLY LUNCHEON PARTY To honour Mrs. T. Blennerhassett, who is resigning from the office or president or the Wanganui Womens Club, about 120 members assemblea in the club rdbm for a jolly luncheon' party on Wednesday. The attractive floral decorations were arranged by members of the Garden Circle, who had used pink blossom, japonica and camelias most effectively m the low bowls on the tables and the tall vases on the mantelpiece and book shelves. The committee responsible for the delightful luncheon served comprised Mesdames G. J. Adams, H. L. Widdowson, F. Hutchison, H. D. Bates, A. G. Cross, J. H. Salmon, C. Horne, L. D. Blyth and Miss Woon. Mrs. D. Mackintosh (ex-president) voiced regret at the retirement from office of Mrs. Blennerhassett, and paid a tribute to her for the work she had done for the club during her two years as president. During Mrs. Blennerhassett’s term of office the membership had more than doubled, and her work for the club had been greatly appreciated. Mrs. Mackintosh thanked all who had helped with the luncheon. In reply, Mrs. Blennerhassett said she appreciated what had been done and the work that had been put into the splendid luncheon. She had been fortunate in the loyalty of the committee and hoped the same loyalty would be extended to her successor. Mention was made of the present crisis and the hard times through which the countries were struggling and said that the club should be a place where members could find relaxation. Mrs. Blennerhassett thanked all for their loyalty and helpfulness. A toast to the retiring president was honoured.
A pianoforte solo was played by Mrs. F. G. Ludbrook, who also accompanied the singing by the gathering of "Land of Hope and Glory” and the New Zealand National Anthem.
