' SIX TOLD TO GO AMERICANS RADIO COMMENTATOR THREATENED OFFICIAL CONCERN Received July 31, 5.5 p.m. ’ SHANGHAI, July 30. An American radio commentator, Mr. C. D. Alcott, has advised the United States Consul-General, Mr. Richard Butrick, that a Russian-Japanese operative, Nathan Rabinovitch, telephoned demanding that Mr. Alcott cease his tri-weekly radio broadcasts. It is understood that the United States authorities are taking the threat seriously, since Mr. Alcott is one of six prominent men whose deportation has been demanded by the Nanking Government. It is also believed" that a serious view of the warning is taken because the expiration of the term for which he will be allowed to continue will coincide with the anticipated announcement of Japans new policy by the Premier, Prince Konoye. The American Consulate at midnight warned six prominent Americans resident in Shanghai, whose expulsion has been “ordered” for the past fortnight by the Nanking Government, to take precautions, because the Japanese police might seek to arrest them. JAPANESE INTENTIONS SOUTHWARD EXPANSION POLICY Received July 31, 11.55 p.m. TOKIO, July 31. The ex-Overseas Minister, Mr. Koiso, who is an advocate of a strong southward expansion policy, upon arrival at Aomori en route to inspect Sakhalien, said that the Konoye Cabinet undoubtedly would push the southward policy. “Before leaving Tokio Prince Konoye told me that he agreed with my views,” said Mr. Koiso.
