WAVERLEY Miss Betty Hopkinson has returned from a holiday at Marton. Miss Nancy Middleton is a Hamilton visitor to Waverley, as the guest of Mrs. Buttars. Mrs. B. Lambie and her small daughter, Gwen, were visitors to Eltham for the week-end. Mrs. J. Morrison has returned to Waverley from a holiday at Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. R. Stewart and Miss Joyce Stewart, who have resided in Waverley for several years, have left to take up residence in New Plymouth. Miss M. Aiken, Wanganui, is spending a holiday in Waverley as the guest of Mrs. W. Aiken, “Airlie.” Mr. FI. Fowler was a visitor to Hawera for the week-end. Mr. F. Coker, Wanganui, spent the week-end in Waverley, Mr. F. Johnston, Wanganui, is spending a few days in Waverley. Mrs. i J . G. Bremer, who has been spending a holiday in the Rotorua district, has now returned to her home, “Lake Farm.” Miss M. Bourke is visiting Waverley as the guest of Miss K. Cleary. Miss A, Davis is a Waverley visitor to Hawera, as the guest of Mrs. A, K. Fyson. Miss Nancy Palmer, Taihape, was the guest of her mother, Mrs. J, T. Palmer, for the week-end. HUNTERVILLE Mr. and Mrs. A. Bartlett were recent visitors to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Coleman, who have been holidaying in Wellington, have now returned home.

Mr. Ray Dukeson, of the local post office staff, has entered the Air Force camp at Levin as an air observer. Mr. and Mrs. A. Henwood are on a holiday tour. They intend visiting Auckland. Mr. White, of the staff of the Union Bank, Hunterville, is at present an inmate of the "Whare-Ora” Hospital. During his indisposition, Mr. A. Hurley, of the Pahiatua branch, is relieving in his position. BULLS Mr. H. J. Hendry has returned from his* holidays, and Mr. A. R. Tippett, who has been relieving at the Bank ot New Zealand, leaves to till a similar capacity at Kawhia. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. McKelvie art spending their holdiyas at Rotorua. OHAKEA Miss V. Ferris, Palmerston, was th; guest of Mr. and Mrs. G. Richardson, ■ Karaka Terrace," for the week-end. Miss V. Smith, Palmerston North, was the guest ot Mrs. S. Ingram during the week-end. Miss E. Ward, of Palmerston North, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. Ellery, "rencarrow," for the weekend. TAIHAPE Mr. E. V. Kiddie, of the Taihape railway staff, has been promoted to the rank of guard and transferred to Waitara. Mr. P. A. Roberts, of the railwaygoods staff, commenced his annual leave yesterday. Mr. J. M. Hickey, who has been away on holiday, resumed duty at the Taihape railway station yesterday. Widespread sympathy has been extended to Mr. R. Mills on the occasion of his wife's death. Mrs. Mills was a well-known and highly-respect-ed resident of Taihape who had lived in the district for many years and her many friends sincerely regret her demise.
