RUAPEHU RUGBY SUB-UNION

MANAGEMENT MEETING (Own Correspondent.) A meeting of the above was held at the secretary’s residence on Monday evening. Present: Messrs. M. Friedlander (chair), M. Gould, F. Soar, M. Sheerin, C. Thomas, J. Brennan and the secretary. Apology was received from Mr. J. Hardie, president. It ‘was resolved to play the championship cups as the first competition, the seniors in two rounds and juniors and thirds in three rounds. Admission were fixed at Is for men and 6d for ladies; school children free. It was resolved that delegates drawing refund for expenses should obtain their benzine first and then secure the necessary refund from the secretary.

The fixtures were then drawn up and confirmed. It was resolved that Mr. Friedlander inspect the Karioi ground. The president and secretary were authorised to operate the bank account. The secretary was instructed to request particulars of the quantity of benzine it is anticipated each club will require for the transport of players by private cars. In this direction clubs are requested to supply this information to the secretary not later than Thursday next. The Referees’ Association handed in a list of referees and the referees for the fixtures on the first two Saturdays were then arranged.

The classification committee comprise Messrs. M. Sheerin and C. Thomas, the chairman to give casting vote if called upon. The postponement committee comprises the president and the secretary.

It was resolved that the seven-a-side competition for the Charity Cup be played on the first Saturday available following the finish of the Levin Cup round. The appointment of gatekeepers and arrangements for the supply of new tickets for the current year were dealt with, the admission tickets to be lettered “R” for Raetihi ground, “O” for Ohakune, “Jn.” for Junction, “Ran.' for Rangataua and "K” for Karioi, It was resolved to supply official badges to gatekeepers. It was unanimously resolved to forward congratulations to Mr. L. V. Carmine, past president, on his appointment of president New Zealand Rugby Union.

It was resolved to request the Borough Council to provide a ticket lobby at the Ohakune Town ground. Application was received from the Ohakune Junction Club for Mr. G. H. Dillon to be reclassified from senior to junior and was approved by the classification committee.

The secretary reported on the annual general meeting of the King Country Rugby Union held at Taumarunui on Friday evening last and advised that the following members of the Ruapehu Union were elected to the management committee of the King Country Rugby Union —Mr. J. H. Hardie, vice-president; Mr. J. W. Yorston, management committee; Mr. C. Thomas, selector for southern division King Country. Mr. Hardie was also unanimously nominated for the office of King

Country delegate to the New Zealand Rugby Union, but regretfully declined this honour due to his duties preventing him from attending the meetings at Wellington. It was resolved that soldiers ehlisted for overseas returning to their home union when on final leave would be eligible to play for their club and that these soldiers would be admitted free to all football fixtures.
