PARISHIONERS’ ANNUAL MEETING PAST YEAR'S WORK The annual meeting of parishioners of All Saints’ Church, Wang l a East, was held in the Parish Hail i Thurs- ■ day night. Archdeacon J. R. Young | presided. The meeting opened with prayer, : and the minutes of last annual meet- i ing were read and confirmed. The Rev. A. F. R. Parr, who is in I charge of All Saints, then read his I annual report, in which he first dts- ■ cussed “Church and World Affairs.’ Continuing. Mr. Parr mentioned the advancement made by the several organisations of the church. Reference was made to the recent renovation made to the chancel, the work of which had all been given free, principally by one parishioner. Mr. J. A. Nicholls, who recently took over the position of Sunday school superintendent, gave a report on the school work. The recent additions to classrooms gave greater facilities for teaching. There was a full staff of 18 teachers, to whom praise and credit was given. The kindergarten branch of the school has now been placed under the jurisdiction of Mr. Nicholls. Mrs. Goldthorpe gave a report on the work of the Mothers’ Union, which continues to do good work. Archdeacon Young spoke on the various activities of All Saints, after which Mr. E. R. C. Dale, treasurer to the parish of Christ Church, of which All Saints is part, gave an account of the finances of the church, which are in a very satisfactory position. Rev. H. Squires, city missioner. of Wellington, who was present, thanked the people of All Saints for gifts made to the mission. Mr. Squires then gave an account of his work as missioner and related many amusing incidents. The appointment of office-bearers then took place. Mr. Parr said he had again pleasure in appointing Mr. A. N. Jones as his church-warden. The church council is Messrs. N. Keith, J. A. Nicholls, C. J. Breed, E. Miller, M. Elliot, B. Williams. After the meeting closed refreshments were handed round.
