RANGITIKEI CRICKET ASSOCIATION MEETING OF COMMITTEE The management committee of the above association met on Tuesday evening, Mr. H. F. Arkwright presiding. The King Country Cricket Association wrote stating that they could not field a team against Rangitikei, at Taihape, on Saturday next. March 23. As the Feilding Association had written inviting Rangitikei to a match at Feilding on the same day. the committee decided to accept the invitation. One guinea was donated to the Fighting Services’ Appeal. Owing to the fact that the Marton Club had played fewer games than the Old Boys, who are at present three points in the lead for the championship, it was decided that if, at the end of the competition, the Marton Club had scored within three points of the Old Boys Club, the Marton Club shall have the right to challenge the Old Boys, the winning team to be the champions for the season, such match to be played on Saturday. April 6, the hours of play to be from 1 to 6 p.m. The date of the next meeting was left in the-hands of the chairman to arrange. It is all the more a triumph because for the most part the man he portrays is a real bounder, unfaithful alike to his wife and his creditors, and it is Brook’s job to make you sympathise

with the rascal. That he succeeds k a great tribute to this popular star. Perhaps you have wondered why a man was one of the leading stars at Hollywood for 10 years is so seldom seen on the screen to-day. To put it bluntly, Clive might have been seen in many more films during his resumed British residence if he had not been so cautious about his work. But he has always hesitated to go into a picture until he was reasonably sure that the job would turn out all right. There will be a special news reel with this programme entitled “Arrival of Achilles at Auckland,” and “With New Zealand Troops in Middle East." Do not miss these special items. YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB ANNUAL DANCE Final arrangements for the Marton Young Farmers’ Club annual dance were made at a meeting in the Red Cross rooms on Tuesday evening. The club is combining with the ladies of the Red Cross Committee to make their annual dance an appeal for the Fighting Service Fund. An excellent orchestra has been engaged. The dance, which is to be held In the Empire Hall on Wednesday, April 24, is to be the culmination of a big day. the occasion being the provincial Young Farmers' judging competition, which is to take place on the Marton Racecourse during the day.
