DANNEVIRKE CENTENNIAL SHOW
THE SHEEP CLASSES A feature of the Romney section of the sheep classes at the Dannevirke A. and P. Association’s centennial show on February 6 and 7 will be the competition for the shields of the New Zealand Romney Marsh Sheep Breeders’ Association which will be awarded to the champion ram and ewe. There is also the Hewitt Cup for the best group of three Romneys, to be judged as a group, and the Gibson Challenge Cup for most points. In Southdowns there is a cup for most points, open and natural condition; a gold medal for best ram under 22 months, registered and owned by a member of the Southdown Sheep Society and also a challenge cup for most points for competition amongst district breeders only. The farmers' classes have on this occasion been endowed with a cup, which will go to the district exhibitor gaining most points. There is a challenge cup for most points in fat sheep and lambs and a special cup for the heaviest lambs (to be judged locally). Entries for the show close on January 23 and for the ram fair, to be held the day following the show, on January 20, with the secretary, Mr. H. S. M. Quigley, P.O. Box 38, Dannevirke.
