FOUND BY SEARCHLIGHTS ‘ GERJIAN MAC HINE CRASHES I IN EAST ANGLIA l' LONDON. Dec. 6. I An unidentified aircraft was re- I ‘ported at a high altitude over the Thames Estuary early this morning. Searchlights found two planes which then swooped down low over the sea and disappeared in a north-easterly direction. I An air raid warning over the Orkneys this morning lasted 30 minutes. ‘An enemy plane was heard overhead. ■ An Air Ministry bulletin states: — I “There was some enemy aircraft ac- I Itivity* last night off the east coast, c Fighter aircraft went up, but the e {weather was bad and contact was nat t {made. Wreckage of a German aircraft and the body of a German air- S iman were recovered on the East t Anglian coast. This machine crashed a during the night and it is presumed r that it was engaged in minelaying operations.” t A Dutch lifeboat went to the assistance of a German plane which 1, came down outside territorial waters t and sent out an S.O.S.
