ARAMOHO BOATING CLUB DAI .ZEIL FOURS RACING RESULJS IN SEMI-FINALS Ideal weather confit s mis again prevailed last evening for the semi-finals of the Daizell Fours at the Aramoho Boating Club, and keen interest was displayed in the two races decided. Following are the results:— J. Brown (str.), J. Fothergill, R. Francis, J. Bellis (bow) defeated I. Pepper (str.), W. Dearsley, E. Gregg, C. Benefield (bow). Brown drew away after a good start and settled down to a long, swinging stroke, slowly gaining the ascendancy over Pepper, who could make little impression on the leaders. At Brunswick Road two lengths separated the crews, and this was the order at the finishing post, the judge giving his word in favour of Brown by two and a-half lengths. J. Jeromson (str.), A. W. Clark, V. Gooding, J. Verrall (bow) defeated W. Firmin (str.), D. Coughlin, A. McNicol, A. G. Toop (bow) by one and a-half lengths. Both crews jumped away to a splendid start and raced neck and neck for the first quarter. Firmin called on his crew, and tained a canvas advantage, but he could not withstand the determined challenge of Jeromson, who took the lead at Webb’s shed and was never headed, gradually drawing away to pass the judge with one and a-hali lengths to spare. W. Heale and T. Hambling were the coxswains. The final will be contested to-night between Jeromson and Brown at 6.15 o’clock.
