WOODVILLE CANDIDATES

HORSES FROM AWAPUNI GALLOPS ON TUESDAY The weather was ideal for track work at Awapuni on Tuesday morning and there was a fair amount of galloping, with horses engaged at Woodville attracting most interest. The flags were close on fifty feet out on the course proper and the going was firmer than anticipated, states the Manawatu Daily Times. Moradabad (Bowden) was one of the first to gallop and she sprinted half a mile in 53 3-5, the last three in 39. She is a lazy worker and it was quite a good effort. Old Bill, Malik Kafur and Wings of Song were given light tasks. Old Bill is not going to Auckland, but he is to be given a race at Awapuni. La Bru (Pratt) and The Buzzer (Redstone) sprinted six furlongs in 1.19 3-5, the last three in 40, and The Buzzer, who is coming to hand quickly, finished in front after a nice gallop. The best seven of the morning was that of The Bigot (B. H. Morris), who galloped particularly well. He ■was picked up by Snigger (P. Jarvis) at the five and he ran to the three in 52 and he came home strongly in 40 to complete in 1.32. Colonel Bogey Goes Well Colonel Bogey (W. J. Broughton), who won his first open race at Feilding on Saturday and who is to start in the Bolton Handicap at Woodville, was worked over a mile and a-quar-ter. After the first five had taken 1.16 2-5 the pace was cracked on and he came home in great style, covering the last five in 1.8 and the last three in 39. Colonel Bogey is entered for the Manawatu Cup. Chary and King’s Mark were exercised. They look to be none the worse for their races at Feilding. Girl Pat (C. B. Goulsbro) put in a final dab to beat Parian (S. Waddell) over seven, the last six of which took 1.21. High Peer (P. Jarvis) was schooled I over five fences, giving a very sound ' display. He will be ridden by Jarvis : at Woodville. Myarion (Tattersail) and Last Acre (Chaplin) sprinted five in 1.9, and Daregain (Chaplin) and Waimutu 1 (Tattersail) were together at the end of five in 1.7 3-5. Pas de Cheval (Waddell) sprinted five in 1.7, and Mon Ace and Great Quex were timed to run six in 1.22 3-5. Flammarion (Broughton), who was I lame after the sprint at Feilding on Thursday, showed no signs of it in a I five-furlong flutter which he accomplished easily in 1.8, and he pulled up well. Raeburn (P. Rae) was not required I to do his best over three in 41 2-5, and Millament (D. Buchanan) sprinted six in 1.20 3-5. She looks well at present and she cannot be far from top form. Beaupartir was exercised and then with Broughton in the saddle he galloped six furlongs in 1.21, the last three in 40. He is well at present and he is to race the second day at Woodville. Broughton will ride him. 1 Little Dorrit (Buchanan), who was i unlucky in missing the jump out in the hack sprint at Feilding on Satur- ' day, sprinted half a mile in 52, and she came home brilliantly to cover I the last three in 38. Broughton will | ride her at Woodville on Saturday. Sceptre (Ireland) could have improved upon 40 2-5 for three and she was followed by Brazil (Ireland) and Sudan (Broughton) who galloped a mile in 1.49. the last six in 1.22 2-5. Brazil was away first and he set the pace all through, still being a length i to the good at the post. Cetewayo Sprints. ‘ Cetewayo (Tattersail), who is • entered for the juvenile event on the first day of the Manawatu meeting, was sprinted down the straight. He galloped smoothly and he looks well. Lambourn (Broughton) was away ahead of Oragon (Morris) in their three-furlong sprint and he was still in front at the post. The time was 38 and Lambourn appears to be more forward than Oragon. On the plough Disdain (Morris) and Laughing Lass (Jarvis) were together during and easy six which took them 1.20, the last three in 41. Disdain and Clarion Call are to race at Auckland. La Coquette (Chaplin) and Anita i Foe (Tattersail) were not after time |in their gallop on the plough and Sleeveless (Tattersail) sprinted half a i mile. s | After the breakfast interval Clarion | Call <P. Jarvis) gave a fine exhibition iof fast jumping in a schooling bout lover six flights. J. H. Mcßae has been | engaged to ride him at Ellerslie. Another to school was Hunting Lore (P. Jarvis) who jumped well over five hurdles. N.Z. HORSE IN SYDNEY PLANS FOR YOURS TRULY SYDNEY, Dec. 6. i It is announced that the New Zealand horse Yours Truly, who has been purchased by Mr. W. A.
