MAJESTIC THEATRE

“THE FOUR JUST MEN” “The Four Just Men,” talking picture version of the exploits of a group of strange characters made famous by Edgar Wallace, is continuing a successful season at the Majestic Theatre. The story tells of one of the principal exploits of four mysterious Englishmen, who take the law into their own hands when they consider the cause just, and whose sole motive is love of England and hatred of all sinister forces endangering the peace of the world. ■ They are modern adventurers of the “Scarlet Pimpernel” type, and the daring manner in which they foil the efforts of a foreign power to destroy the British Empire is thrilling in the true sense of the word. A feminine element is provided by a vivacious and charming young newspaper woman. The associate programme includes “The March of the Movies” and “This Place Australia.” In the former, which comprises 40 minutes of laughs and memories, the days from the first movies to the present days are covered. Film fans will meet all their old favourites— Charlie Chaplin, Rudolph Valentino, Wallace Reid, Flora Finch, Fatty Arbuckle, Norma Talmadge and the Gish Sisters. Many interesting episodes mark the milestones along the road travelled by moving pictures from the day when the “silver sheet, came into its own. In full natural colours, “This Place Australia” features the poems of Henry Lawson, Australia’s poet of the people.
