METHODIST GARDEN PARTY 1 A beautifully fine day and a good ■ crowd all added to the success of a 'very jolly garden party held at the residence of Mrs. Hall last Tuesday | afternoon. Several competitions were on the programme of entertainment ! and some of the winners were: Quoits, Mrs. Carey; bean throwing, Mrs. Bil- ■ linghurst, j A well-patronised stall helped the .funds considerably and afternoon tea ' was served by Mrs. Hall and helpers. W.D.F.U. | Mrs. Price presided over a good attendance at the November meeting 'held in the hall last Wednesday afternoon. Several apologies from absent ■members were received. ■ The next meeting, which will be in i January, will be held at Mrs. G. I Rose’s residence and will take the | form of a social afternoon. The roll- ! call is to be “Sing, Say, Whistle, or ■ Pay.” i Arrangements are well in hand for (the garden party to be held at Mrs. I R. Deroles’ in February. | Mrs. Meiklejohn was the winner lof a social competition and a play reading was very much enjoyed. Afternoon tea, served by the host'esses, concluded a pleasant afternoon. GENERAL i The friends of Mr. Owen Evans, who has been an inmate of the WanIganui Hospital for some weeks, will Ibe pleased to learn that he has now ‘ ret urned home and is progressing satisfactorily. A number of ladies gathered at the I school last Tuesday and Friday to I make the children’s costumes for the I forthcoming annual concert to be held I next Friday evening. CALF JUDGING I Mr. Mason and Mr. Robbie visited I the School last, week to award the prizes in the Children’s Calf Club before a good gathering of parents and friends. There were eleven entries and it is very pleasing to see the interest that is being taken in the care and attention of the calves. The chairman of the school committee. Mr. W. E.
