BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CALF CLUBS

WANGANUI-MAIN TRUNK JUDGING IN THE TAIHAPE DISTRICT Judging of entries in the Boys’ and Girls’ Calf Club competition in the Taihape district has been proceeding during the past few days. Judges visited the Mataroa, Taurangarere, Bell’s Junction and Owhakura Schools. MATAROA SCHOOL At the Mataroa School, where the judge was Mr. J. Collins, Taoroa, three juniors entered calves and eight seniors. There were also two yearlings, four woolly lambs and five fat lambs brought forward. When judging was finished Mr. Williams thanked all those present for their attendance and also the children for their interest, which was reflected in the number of entries, it being an improvement over last year. He trusted that in the years to come there would be a still greater increase. Three cheers were called for Mr. Collins, Mr. Marks, the headmaster and Mr. Robbie for their interest in the club, also for the ladies for providing morning tea. Mr. Collins then spoke thanking the children for their entries and stated that it was a pleasure to have judged such a large number of exhibits. After prize cards were presented by Mr. Williams the garden plots were inspected by those present and were found to be in very good order. During the morning the children were supplied with ice cream by the Mataroa School Committee. TAURANGARERE SCHOOL Mr. H. R. Green judged the calves presented at the Taurangarere School and Mr. W. J.
