JUNIOR BANNERETTE GONVILLE’S CHALLENGE WANGANUI EAST RETAIN TROPHY, The Wanganui East Bowling Club retained the Junior Bannerette over the week-end, the challengers, Gonville, being beaten by 25 to 23 on the Wanganui East green. Up to the 11th end the game was very even, but then Wanganui East scored four, making the score 20 —15 in favour of the holders. The next two heads went to Gonville, and. the board read 20—19. On the next end Wanganui East secured a full hand —5. With two heads to go, Gonville required 6 to win, and it looked as if they was going to score 5 on the 20th end, but the Gonville skip, who had played excellent bowls, was unfortunate to trail the kitty a little too far, and only three resulted. The last end went to Gonville, which scored a single, and the final result was: Wanganui East 25, Gonville 23. The rinks were: - Gonville. Jackson, Newman, Smith, Durrant. Wanganui East.—Thomas, Dempster, Hawkins, Begbie.
