WAVERLEY NEWS
BIRTHDAY PARTY (Own Correspondent.) WAVERLEY, Oct. 30. On Saturday evening about 50 friends gathered as a surprise party at “Gowanlea,” the residence of Mr. G. Aiken, to celebrated the coming of age of his eldest son Howard. The house had been tastefully decorated with spring Howers. Each guest came representing a song, which proved a very amusing competition and was won by Miss Myra Morrison. Dancing was also held, the music being supplied by Miss M. O'Reilly (piano) and Mr. W. Powell (accordion). A dainty supper was served and a beautifully decorated cake with its 21 candles was cut by the guest of honour, and the toast proposed by Mi’. W. Morrison was sung with musical honours. Mr. H. Aiken suitably replied. He was presented with the key of the door, which was autographed by all present, and was also the recipient of many useful gifts.
