WEDDING

SIM MONS—MENZIES A wedding of considerable interest was celebrated at St. Mathew's Church, Hastings. when Dorothy ; Mary, eldest daughter of Mrs. R. Menzies and the late Mr. R. Menzies, was married to Leicester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Simmons, of Hastings. The church was attractively decorated byfriends of the bride for t he ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. Drake. Mr. S. Finny presided al Iho organ. The bride, who was escorted by her brother. Mr. E. Menzies, of Lower Hutt, was attired in a white lace gown cut on slim-fitting lines and the double tulle veil fell to the hem of the train. She carried a sheaf of white lilies. Her only ornament was a slender gold chain and cross, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaid, Miss Joyce Menzies, wore a frock of green taffeta, perfectly fitting, and flaring at the hem, with long darker green velvet sash. She carried a sheaf of golden-shaded flowers. The little flower girls. Daphne Menzies and Audry King, wore frocks exactly matching the bridesmaid and carried posies of golden polyanthus. Mr. Charles Percy assisted as best man and the ushers were Mr. Michael Milne, of Taupo, and Mr. W. Simmons, of Hastings. During the signing of the register, the solo. “Where'er You Walk.” was beautifully rendered by Master lan Thompson, of Wanganui, cousin of the bride. After the ceremony the guests were entertained by the bride’s mother at the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Service room, which was beautifully decorated In the colours of the bridal retinue. The bride and bridegroom left by car for a tour of the North Island, the bride travelling in a teal blue costume with rust-shaded blouse and hat and fur stole.
