REGENT THEATRE
"I STOLE A MILLION” AND "THE OLD BARN DANCE"
A man who carved a wild slice of life—who defied society to question his right to live and to love under his own code—such is the theme of Universal's “I Stole a Million,” co-starring George Raft and Claire Trevor, concluding to-day at the Regent Theatre. The associate feature, “The Old Barn Dance,” Republic musical western starring Gene Autry, offers all that any action-feature patron desires. The Autry westerns have always broken away from the routine type of outdoor dramas, and this one tops them all. Excellent music, played by the Colorado Hillbillies, and sung by Autry and his pal “Frog” (Smiley Burnette), combined with a story far superior to many socalled “Class A” productions, makes “The Old Barn Dance” well worth any one’s time. “Flirting With L’atc” niid Oit-.v.” As the harassed manager of a temperamental vaudeville troupe stranded in the wilds of South America in “Flirting With Fate,” Joe E. Brown has a role made to order for his inimitable, side-splitting brand of humour. The comedy star’s new picture opens at the Regent Theatre to-morrow with an all-laugh cast including Leo Carrillo, Beverley Roberts, Wynne Gibson and Stefli Duna. In “Big City,” the associate feature, Luise Rainer and Spencer Tracy are co-starred. The story is powerful and the acting is equal to it. An excellent .supporting cast includes Charley Grapewin, Janet Beecher, Eddie Quillan, Victor Varconi, Oscar O’Shea, Helen Troy, William Demarest, John Arlcdge, Irving Bacon. Guinn Williams and Regis Toomey.
