The Duendin Jockey Club, which abandoned the first day's programme of its recent spring meeting, decided last week to hold a three-day summer meeting, and an application for December 23 has been approved of by the Racing Conference. The meeting will now be held on December 23, 26 and 27. v V * * An application by I lie Kurow Jockey Club to hold its annual race meeting on the Oamaru racecourse on December 2 instead of al Kurow has been granted by the executive committee of the Racing Conference, subject to the approval of the Minister for Internal Affairs. During an interval in the racing al Trentham last Saturday, the opportunitv was taken of introducing Mr. A. M. Mcßeath, the newly-appointed I secretary to the Racing Conference, to the members of the committee and to the press gallery. He was accompanied to the gallery by Messrs. J. S. McLeod, president of the conference, and E. L. Riddiford, president of the club and both referred to the qualifications held by Mr. Mcßeath for the responsible position to which he bad : been unanimously appointed. Florence Mills has recovered from i the trouble which kept her away from Trentham last week, and she is likely to sport silk al an early date. Reports from Awapuni state that ! Quadroon has been galloping so wed about the paddock that T. L. Wilson I has decided to gel him back to work almost immediately. Many Sim, yards' Handicaps have been won from the back will: lightning challenges along the outside of the leaders. No horse impressed al Trentham as a better lype for such a victory this year Ilian Globe Trotter, "ho pul ill two remarkable late efforts in his races al the week-epd. The type of blinkers to be used m racing ill the Dominion has been left lo the discretion of the stipendiary stewards, and those now in use will probably be accepted as suitable. I The former Taranaki - trained Namara battled out the finish of the Cup with Hunting Cap very gamely and his turn cannot be far oft. He was carried very wide by the winner in the straight, the pair finishing under the judge’s box. Namara appeared to suffer several slight checks inside the last 100 yards which no doubt cost him the vedicl. This four-year-old son of Lackham— Tikiday has now become very solid and, although he cannot boast, of much size, he is decidedly useful up to a mile and a quarter. He should run prominently again if taken to Stratford next Saturday. Entrusted to favouritism. Pretty Lass never battered the hopes of her supporters al any stage ot the Jackson Memorial Stakes, at Waverley. She was unfortunate to draw an outside barrier position and consequently was never close to the fence. Possessed of a strong finishing run when allowed time to find her feet in the early stages, she is not a suitable mare for small courses. Pretty Lass would be better suited on a track such as Stratford next week. v * * * Kaiwaka appeared among the entries for the Budge Memorial Hack at Stratford, but this should have’ read as m the Highweight Handicap. His win at Waverleybrought Kaiwaka's earnings in first money to £5lO. thus placing him out of the hack ranks. Although Royal Chief did not accept for the main event at Banks Peninsula to-day, he has pleased in his training since his return from Australia and is regarded as a certain runner in the New Zealand Cup. In this event he will be ridden by A. E. Ellis. Paddy The Rip, who recently returned from Australia is at Takanini being trained by H. Gray. Paddy The Rip failed to strike form when in J. T. Jamieson’s stable in Sydney, but 'vas a good winner in New Zealand last season. According to northern reports the Wanganui hunter Promenade, was unlucky not Lo win the Farmers’ Steeples at the Waikato Hunt meeting. Kept a long way back e.arly, he was conceding the leaders half a furlong start with a mile but then made a great run to finish third. This Resinous gelding looks likely to make a useful jumper.
