Awapuni horses are freely entered > for the Rangitikei meeting, but with the majority of them raced during last week-end. there was not a great deal of fast work yesterday morning. The going was firm on the course proper and the flags about 30 fedt out. Probably the best gallop of the morning was that of Laughing Lass over five furlongs, bu.t others to go pleasingly were Vascones and Royal Sign. Brazil, Guiding Light and Thrasos. First out were Manteau (B. IL Morris) and Snigger (G. R. Tattersail'. The latter was in front at the end of live in 1.6 2-5, the last three in 40. Waimutu, from L. Knapp's stable, a Royal Divorce gelding, which showed some pace at the iecent matinee meeting, scampered over three furlongs i<better than 40. He has been accepted for in the Trial Stakes at Bulls. High Feer <W. J. Broughton) galloped a mile in 1.50 2-5. He has been working well for some time and there is no doubt that he is improving. Brilliant Speed Laughing Lass (J. Pratt) started slowly from the jive but it was not long before she reached top speed and she came home brilliantly in 39 to complete in 1.5 2-5. She w ill be ridden by B. 11. Morris on Saturday. Royal Sign (Morris) and Vascones (Tattersail >. from a standing start, sprinted five in 1.6, both going well. Royal Sign will be ridden by S. Wilson at Bulls, and Tattersail will have the mount on Vascones. Fauvette (Tattcrsall'. with a comree furlongs. Kahui, who looks to he none the worse for his Trentham efforts where his first day showing was something! of a disappointment, was exercised on | the plough. Chary < Brough ton) sprinted three in , 40 and Hanover (S. Anderson' was. [ kept up to it in a working gallop over ! seven. He should make something oi a showing in the amateur riders' event, beciv.t.-* he has a lair turn of speed. Brazil < It. Improved by her race at. Waverley, j Pretty Lass ’Holland) infused plenty ■of dish into her task when running : three furlongs in 39-iscc. at Hawcra on Thursday morning. Friesland ' Farland) accompanied her over the first couple of furlongs in 26isec. Pretty Lass missed the jump out from an outside position in her engagement on Monday and w as never dangerous, but she may make amends at Bulls, where an extra furlong will suit her admirably. Friesland is making rapid progress and he may he given a run at! ’Stratford next week. 1
