MARTON WEDDING
EGGERS—GIBBS. I A pretty wedding was solemnised at i St. Andrew’s Church, Marton, on ’ October 14 between Lucy, second i daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Gibbs and Edwin Lewis, only son of Mr. and ! Mrs. A. C. D. Eggers, Nelson. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, was charmingly attired in parchment satin with customary veil and orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of I stocks, freesias and maiden-hair fern. Attending the bride were Misses Lily Luone (chief) and Alice Gibbs, sister of the bride. They were dressed alike in pink and mauve Swiss lace organdie over satin. Both wore headbands and carried bouquets to tone | with their frocks. Little Doreen I Paterson (cousin of bride) made a ’ charming flower girl dressed in green swiss lace organdie over satin and carried posy to tone. Mr. Ernest Gibbs (brother of bride) was best man and Mr. Cliff Pidwell was groomsman. Rev. T. H. Burton was the officiating clergyman and Mrs. R. C. Ball presided at the organ. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the Maudette tearooms, where they were received by the bride’s mother wearing a black and white figured frock and black coat and carried a posy in autumn shades. Assisting her was Mrs. Norcott, aunt of bridegroom, who wore a navy costume and loat and carried a posy in i autumn shades. The bouquets were < made and presented by Mr. and Mrs. IG. Black. Tutaenui. The bride travelled in a navy costume and hat with accessories to tone. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride and her maids were pearl necklaces and to the flower girl a gold bangle. The bridegroom was the recipient of a signet ring from the bride. Their future home will be in Upper Moutere, Nelson.
