FINE OF £23 SMALL BETS TAKEN I A fine of £25 for keeping premises las a common gaming house was im- : nosed on Albert Bishop by Mr. A. Coleman, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Wanganui yesterday. Detective-Sergeant J. K. Robertson said that defendant, who was in regu- : lar employment, was an agent for a I bookmaker until September 30 and I had since been carrying on on his | own, laying small double bets. The magistrate said that he would make no distinction between accepting small bets and ordinary gambling.
