Golfers Entertained. A party of members from Hie Wanganui Women’s Golf Club visited Ihe Collegiate Schoo] on Friday when a friendly game was played with pupils of the school. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea. The party included Miss Montgomery Moore, Mesdames Broderick, Richardson, H. E. B. Newton, J. C. Brown, E. Gilbert, Cutfield, Misses J. Duncan. Currie, Chambers, Simpson and Quinn. .Makirikiri Dance. The members of St. Maiy's Anglican Church, Makirikiri, are holduig their annual dance in the Upukongaro Hall to-morrow (Tuesday), at 8.30 p.m. The music will be supplied by Trussell's New Gaiety Orchestra, and there will be bridge for non-danuuis. An energetic eommitt.ee is arranging a good programme of old. modern, and novelty dances. As this will be one of the last dances of the season it should go with a swing and all who come are assured of an enjoyable evening. Women Police. May Be Appointed. A letter from the Minister in Charge of Police (the Hon. P. Fraser) • was received al. a meeting of the CaWerbury branch of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children. It stated that the question of appointing women police was receiving close attention. When the Commissioner of Police (Mr. D. J. Cummings) was in Australia, he made a study of the work of women police. The Minister expected to receive the Commissioner's report shortly, and hoped that it would expedite the inauguration of the service of women, police in New Zealand. Mr. C. R. N.
