WORBOYS—POPPE The wedding took place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Marton, on the afternoon of June 24, of Nellie Catherine Jane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Poppe, to Sidney James, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Woi boys, Woodville. The church decorations were in green and gold trimmings arranged by friends of the bride. Rev. T. H. Burton performed the ceremony and Mrs. R. C. Ball was at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by h-.z. father, was gowned in a model frock of uncrushable silk velvet. The bodice was niched with a soft V neckline an, a rounded corded yoke, buttoned at the neckline to a. point, at the back. The skirt was cleverly cut to form a beautiful tram. Her veil, which was of tulle had Lrue-lover.s’ knots in each corner and a topknot of velvet fioweis in the shape of a rose. She carried a sheaf of lilies. The bridesmaids, Mis;Mollie Morgan, Woodville, Merva Signal, PalVnerston North, and Shirley Poppe, Fern Flats, wore frocks of green, velvet cut on similar lines - that, of the bride, and wore halos to tone with their bouquets of golden jonquils. Mr. Bill Bly, Woodville, was bos' man, and ushers were Messrs. L. Cotter, Woodville, and J. Taylor, Marton. The wadding caused widespread interest throughout the district and furiher afield. The church had been artistically decorated for the occasion with trails of flowers in blue and rustic, tunings intermingled with clusters of maidenhair fern lied with white satin ribbon. Ferns and flowers wore useu in profusion on the altar and largo jardinieres of hydrangeas were placeu on each side of the altar steps. Trie service, which was fully choral, the bride having been a member of the church choir lor many years, w/.s conducted by the Rev. Mr. McKenzie (Auckland), assisted by Captain Elliot; Major (Martom, brotner of the bride, Mi .s Taylor played the wending music. Entering the church with her father the bride wore a gown of gleaming ivory slipper satin made on slim-fitting lines. A sheaf ol chrysanthemums, roses , carnation* abutilons and maidenhair fern was carried and was the gift of Mr. anc Mrs. Lester. The bridesmaids, the Misses Ivy Major (cousin of the bride) and Anne Cust, w ere dressed alike in love-in-the mist blue net frocks over matching taffetas. The skirts were made on full flared lines and were daintily finished I Darbyshire 2, Miss E. Morrison 3; vase of flowers: Mrs. Morrison 1, Miss L. Morrison 2, Mrs. Staite 3. There was a very fine entry for all these competitions, the knitting especially, this being a very' pleasing display. A happy meeting was brought to a close with the National Anthem. Hostesses for August will be Mesdames Matthews, Moss, Moosman and Miss E. Luty.

Major received the guests, the latter wearing a tailored black costume relieved with white binding and a fur stole. Accessories were to tone and she carried a posy ol red carnations and pansies.
