HUNT BALL AT MARTON

RANGITIKEI ENTERTAINS BRILLIANT ANNUAL FUNCTION [ The Rangitikei Hunt Club’s carnival ‘ season opened with the Hunt Ball in ‘ the Civic Theatre, Marton, on Tuesday evening. The hall was tilled lo capacity, visitors being present from all parts of the North Island. The beautiful gowns and the hunting even-

ing dress of the members with the red lapels and vests, made a picturesque scene. The stage supper room had been artistically decorated by Mrs. L. Duckworth, bracken and '.-oily arranged on a white background intermingled with large red and green bows, the hunt's colours. The decorations in the supper room was the work of Misses K. and N. Simpson, and bowls of rhododendrons and hydrangeas, interlaced with greenery, adorned the wall brackets. On the supper tables, small red bowls of Iceland poppies, stocks and winter roses had been arranged by Mrs. T. G. Barpur. The supper arrangements, Sander the able supervision of Mrs. J. Brice, was all that could be desired, and delicacies of all descriptions were dispensed to the patrons. Tom L’dy’s Dance band from Featherston were in wonderful form and supplied snappy dance music from start to finish and had to respond to numerous recalls. The extras during the supper interval were played by a local combination, Mr. and Mrs. Berry, Mr. Roy Neilson and Mrs. J. Wales. Among those present of the committee were: Mrs. J.
