PAREWANUI WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT BULLS There was a good attendance at the July meeting ol members of the Parcwanui Women s Institute, and one new member was welcomed. The motto for the day was: “Never waste anything. ■ but above all never waste time; to-day comes but once, never to return.’’ Invitations were received to atte:;< birthday at Bulls and Ohakea. Mrs. Anderson demonstrated the making of footstools from tins, and the roll call, “The funniest thing I ever saw," caused much amusement. Competitions resulted as foiiuws: — Puff pastry, Mrs. Whitehead 1, Mrs. Osborne 2; best bloom, Mrs. Abraham; rolling shilling, Miss Healey. Last week a farewell evening was tendered to Mrs. McConachy, Mrs. Homes expressing regret at losing such a good member, and wishing her good luck in her future home. Mrs. McConachy was the recipient of a beautiful eiderdown quilt, and suitably responded. Mrs. Last-Harri.s kindly gave the institute the use of her home for the occasion. The August demonstration will be willow baskets, and the competition an eggless chocolate cake.
