iOkii Correspondent >. PATEA, July 17. ft was decided at a meeting of lhe s Boy Scouts’ Committee last week, to t hold the birthday party on July 26, if ' the hall was available. Warrants were received for the " cubmistress and scoutmaster and it I was decided to present them at the f birthday. ■ The resignation of Mr. 1. Hermon 5 assistant scoutmaster was received. I Cubmistress Kelly reported ' that - the weekly Cub parade had not been > so well attended owing to the rough - weather. There had been a good at- ' tendance at the church parade at the ' Methodist Church in June and at the ’ Anglican Church this month. The cui>1 mistress thanked the visiting com- ’ mittee. Messrs. C. Hill and K. Mays, - for attending parades and showing j 2 their interest in the boys. Mr. C. Hill reported that on each ' parade night either Mr. Mays or he I had attended the Scout and Cub "Iparades and he had been very pleased ' with the appearance of the boys ant 3 with their work. He was very pleased ‘ with the Cubs’ signalling and with tn: parade o£ Scouts on the night of Mr ? and Mrs. Blackman’s visit to Palea. Mrs. A. Davidson reported that two more Scouts had passed their cook. * I badge test. ' i Discussion was held on raising funds , to supply the boys with theii- camp- ‘ ing equipment for the jamboree, anti - disappointment was expressed that ' parents of the boys going han not acJ cepted the invitation to attend the . meeting. It was decided to leave the finalising of arrangements until the birthday, when it was hoped to get the parents of the boys together to • discuus the matter. I Messrs. Ramsbottom and Nelson ‘ were appointed visiting committee. I Mrs. F. Ramsbottom presided. VALEDICTORY j Mr. J. Sampson was farewelled by members of the borough staff on Friday. and the electrical engineer, Mr. - J.’o. Cunningham, when presenting -I him with a marble clock, with best i wishes for his future, expressed regret - at Mr. Sampson’s departure. Other speakers were the Mayor. Mr. JE. F. Hemingway; the town clerk, Mr. L. W. Austin; Mr. A. Maule, of t the electrical engineering staff, and t Mr. F.
