APPRENTICES’ EDUCATION
Dll I 11 I LUES EXPERIENCED POSITION IN AUCKLAND [ Ter Press Association 1 AUCKLAND, June 16. The difficulties experienced by apprentices in obtaining technical training were discussed at a meeting of the Auckland District Council of the Federation of Labour when a proposed apprentices’ bill was under consideration. It was considered that this training should be carried out in the daytime and in working hours. It was stated that owing to the overcrowding of the Scddon Memorial Technical College, many apprentices at present left their place of employment at 5 p.m. and proceeded straight to the college without having a meal. They carried on their studies until 7 p.m. and it was possible that in many eases they did not get their evening ! meal before eight o'clock. It was felt that such conditions were not in the interests of the health or education of apprentices.
