OHAKUNE PLUNKET SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING There was a fair attendance at the annual meeting of the Plunket Society, over which the Mayor of Ohakune presided. The year just completed had been a most successful one. both socially and financially. Mrs. Hussey, who was re-elected president, spoke of the hard work put in by the committee. Mrs. Hardie and Mrs. Delamar were appointed vice-presidents and a full committee was elected. During the afternoon a presentation was made to Mrs. A. Larsen, who had been a foundation member, and also to Mrs. Hardie, who had so ably filled the position of secretary during the year. In replying, both ladies expressed the Plunket ideal, which is “Service for others, and not for self." Mrs. Edwards, the new secretary, very ably expressed the feelings of the committee towards the president and, on behalf of the committee, presented Mrs. Hussey with a beautiful bouquet. After the meeting afternoon tea was partaken of and then the new committee got down to business. It was decided to hold the annual ball on Friday, June 30. A week prior to the annual meeting a visit was made to Ohakune by Miss Beatrice Ogden, senior Plunket nurse. Miss Ogden met members of the committee and delegates from sub branches at an informal meeting in the Plunket rooms. Members listened to a very interesting talk on Miss Ogden’s visit to England, especially in reference to Plunket work being carried on there. It was very nice to learn, too, that Miss Ogden will be in charge of the Plunket pavilion at. the Centennial Exhibition. Members were urged to visit this section of the exhibition if they went down to Wellington.
