MILE OF THE CENTURY ” , ENGLISHMAN CROWDED AGAINST RAIL "UMORTUNATE ACCIDENT” PRINCETON (New Jersey), June 17. Sydney Wooderson amazed 28,000 spectators at the Princeton invitation meet-by finishing fifth and last in the mile. The order at the finish, with times, was: “Chuck” Fenske. 4min. llsec., 1; Glen Cunningham, 4min. 11.6 sec., 2; San Romani, 4min. ll.Ssec.. 3; Blaine Rideout, 4min. 12sec., 4; Sydney Wooderson (England), 4min. 13sec., 5. Wooderson claimed that Rideout crowded him against the rail in the last half-lap but he failed to enter a formal protest. The referee ruled that it was an “unfortunate accident” with disqualification not in order.
