OBITUARY

.MR. H. G. NITSCHKE Another of the well-known and re-; spected members of the Rangitikei ■. farming community passed away last , week in the person of Mr. 11. G. I Nitschke, of Bonny Glen. The late Mr. Nitschke had been enjoying the • best of health lately and his death i came with a suddenness that shocked | his many friends and relations. He suffered a seizure ten days ago but failed to regain consciousness and passed away last. Thursday night. The late Mr. Nitschke, who was in his 60th. year, was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. Nitschke, of Cliff Road. In 1905 he married Miss Clara Klitscher, of South Australia, who predeceased him five years ago. For nearly 40 years he had successfully farmed his “Sea- i view” property at Bonny Glen. Al- j though the late Mr. Nitschke had not taken an active part in public affairs, ! his advice and assistance in farming interests was frequently sought and freely given and he was held in the highest respect by all friends and neighbours. He was a very keen angler and regularly visited Tokaanu and the local lakes, from which he derived a great deal of pleasure. All his life he has been a regular attendant and an ardent supporter of the Lutheran Church. The funeral service on Saturday afternoon was conducted by Rev. Heidrich. The esteem in which the deceased gentleman was held was shown by the beautiful array of floral tributes and by the large attendance of people from all walks of life who followed in the seventy cars from his late residence to the Lutheran cemetery. The pall-bearers were Messrs. R. B. and E. G. Jurgens, H. A. Nitschke, B. Wilhelm, H. L. Grutt, and D. Gilchrist. The late Mr. Nitschke is survived by one son, Arnold, of Bonny Glen, and two daughters, Mrs. A. Nitschke, Greatford, and Miss Ena Nitschke, Bonny Glen, also four grandchildren, Messrs. G. B. and F. R. Nitschke are brothers, and Mesdames M. Beyers, A. S. Coleman. E. R. Klitscher (Mar- I ton*, and J. Nitschke (Hawke’s- Ray) arc sisters.
