The Times city editor says: "Drastic measures are clearly necessary Io maintain New Zealand's credit and sterling balances. “The new decree must be discouraging to British exporters, but a rectincation of an ill-balanced exchange position is clearly necessary if still I more drastic restrictions are to be i avoided in the future. The Government's action is understandable in this light. I "The Government by taking the bull Iby the horns, may be able to builu up sufficient sterling resources during I the remainder of the export season to assure the smooth handling of arrangements to deal with the January redemption and intervening interest payments.
