The chairman, in his monthly re- ’ port, stated that he had attended the e > annual primary school sports at Wan- < 1 ganui and was impressed with the $ ’ excellent work being done in lhe r s schools to improve the health and t • physique of the children. These re- £ •’ marks applied to the Patea and dis- j 1 trict school sports on the following r day. r Advice was received from the Edu- t cation Department of its approval of a grant of two-thirds of the cost of t adding a waiting room and a nurse's r room to the dental clinic building at ‘ the Wanganui East School. A similar grant was received for the erection of 5 a type B dental clinic at the Ohakur.e 1 School. 1 An application was received Iroin < ‘ the committee of the Manunui School f 1 for the installation ot a hot water t heating system and the erection ot a t ’ fuel shed. On the suggestion ot the < architect, it was decided to recommend \ 5 that an an heater should be in- < 1 stalled. The architect recommended , that a fuel shed should be erected \ ' after it was ascertained what type of { I heating system was to be used. , The committee of the Martop. Dis- , trict High School applied for assist I ance toward the cost of sealing certain j ’ of its footpaths, the board agreeing j - to grant £3O toward the work when j ? funds permit. ( A subsidy toward the cost of laying , J down concrete in the school grounds j ‘ was sought by the committee ot the ? Kakaramea School.
