WOMEN'S DIVISION IN CONFERENCE
VARIOUS REMITS CARRIED NORTH, MID, AND SOUTH CANTERBURY MEETING [ Pe*- Press Association • J TIMARU. March 21. Disapproval of the broadcasting of such serial recordings as the “Fourth Form at St. Percy’s,” because they were detrimental to correct speech and discipline of children, was voiced at a conference of the North, Mid. and South Canterbury executives of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, held at Timaru to-day. The conference also agreed to urge the Government to adopt a more liberal policy towards the admission of a selected number of refugees from Europe into New Zealand. A further remit carried was that, because of the difficulty of securing domestic help in the country, that import restrictions and electric and other laboursaving devices be removed, and prices modified. The conference also urged the abolition of hospital rates, contending that hospitals should be wholly maintained from the Social Security Fund.
